You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home

*Prologue: The song that is the title of this post is currently my Radio Disney favorite song. Look it up, and then try not to judge me.

Wow. It has been just over a month since I last blogged!!! Sorry guys! I dropped the ball!

Well, well, well, despite not blogging in over a month, I have surprisingly little to talk about. Movie still coming along at a pace that would make a snail look back and say, "Sheesh." Lindenwood still feels like a trance for the 4 1/2 days I'm here every week, almost as if the buildings themselves are bored...Interesting concept. If those walls could talk....they'd probably yawn.

Anyway, gearin' up for Halloween. I will be spending the early part of it working for R-R-R-Radio Disney at Zona Rosa and then at the KC Zoo. Guess we'll see what happens after that. Apparently I have to have a costume for work, so I'm gonna go buy a costume that consists of an inflatable magnet I wear around my neck with little baby chickens attached to it (Get it? Chick Magnet?).

So yeah. Goin' to some sort of a church murder-mystery-dinner thing-a-ma-jig (I believe that's the official title for it). I am going as Dr. Indy Jonas, which always makes me think of Indiana Jones running away from that giant rock with the song "That's Just the Way We Roll" playing in the background (Get it? Rocks? "That's Just the Way We "ROLL""?).

What else is happening...Well, since the last time we talked, I own the Full House Complete Series on DVD. It even comes in a cute little case that is made to look like their house. And yeah, I'm secure enough in myself to use "cute" as an adjective.

I saw Egg Nog in the store yesterday, but it's remarkably easy not to buy Egg Nog when you have no money to buy it with. And after a few hours of deliberation, I decided a glass of egg nog was not worth risking going to prison for shoplifting. I could just picture that conversation: "What are you in for?" "I killed a man. You?" "I was jonesing for some Egg Nog..."

For those of you not keeping up with this Developing Story on my Facebook, my roommate is quite the loud sleeper. Between snoring, moaning (?), and turning a disproportionate amount in bed, I'm losing some serious beauty sleep. But no worries. I recently purchased ear plugs. Goodbye, restless nights, hello, sweet peaceful dreams.

So other than that, I guess nothing is really happening. Quickly discovering that a convertible is much more exciting in the summer than in the fall/winter. But thank God! No more lightpoles have jumped into the middle of the road!

I guess that'll be all. I'll actually try to blog a little bit more. We'll see how it goes.

Epilogue: There is nothing to write in this epilogue, but it felt weird having a prologue without an epilogue, am I right?

9/11

This post was for a homework assignment. We were instructed to write about our first memories of 9/11 and how it has affected America today.

I was only 10 on September 11, 2001. I was in class, doing the normal morning work. I remember my teacher leaving the room for a few moments, and when she came back, she was almost crying. We all got moved over to the classroom next door, where a TV was showing the planes flying into the Twin Towers. It felt like most of the kids didn't get the significance of what was happening; we knew it was bad, but it almost didn't seem real, and it didn't seem to affect many of us. The teachers were visibly shaken, and for good reason. It was only a year or two later that I started to grasp what had happened, and the significance of it on American history.

Watching the planes fly into the Twin Towers almost seemed like an action movie, with fire, people screaming, heroic firefighters. I certainly did not have even the slightest notion of how tragic these incidents were, and I remember several of my friends felt the same way. The question that remained in my mind at the time was not, How could this happen, but rather, How does this affect me? I didn't see the significance of 9/11 until I was older.

The most amazing thing to me about September 11 didn't happen in New York City, but rather in Pennsylvania with Flight 93. Several passengers were able to prevent another terrorist attack on a national landmark by banding together, and sacrificing their lives for the greater good. This story captivated me, and I was blown away by the heroism of these normal, everyday American citizens.

I think 9/11 has forever changed America. It showed us that we weren't untouchable; the United States was no longer "Superman." The amount of US patriotism that sprung up in the days, weeks, and months to follow was incredible, and it was so amazing to see a country come together. Even as a kid, I found it remarkable how many American flags were flying outside of homes and businesses. September 11 was a horrific event, but in a way, I think it made this country even stronger than it had been before.

Simple Song

Almost forgot----FINALLY BOUGHT SCRUBS SEASON 6. BAM!!

NEW SCRUBS TOMORROW NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY BACK! BACK 2 BACK! DOUBLE BAM!

SCRUBS MAY BE BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON NEXT YEAR! BAM BAM BAM!!!

Oh, and I got Demi tickets, Sis. Just sayin'.

We Got the Party

Wow! Nearly a month in between blogs. Sorry about that, I've been.....busy?

Time flies when you do nothing but drive. Seriously. Back and forth from KC to STL is actually kind of relaxing and it makes the time go by. No complaints here, although Vinny might have something to say....

Someone stole my CDs, speakers, and iPod out of my car over the weekend, but I'm over it. It's God's way of telling me to a) lock my doors and b) get better music. So I guess I will get cracking on those things.

Been workin' my butt off at Radio Disney, driving the van, being a DJ, doing more than Walt Disney could have ever asked of me. My boss is so proud of me, and I am FINALLY getting a week off to chill in St. Charles, Mizzou.

Still working on some stuff for my movie over the summer which will be pretty awesome. If it actually happens. Which it should. But who knows. Not I.

Oh, and Sis, just to rub it in, at Radio Disney training, I won 2 tickets to go see Demi Lovato. Me and Zach are going. That is happening. Check.

Well, that's really all I have to say. Gettin' ready to watch Peter Pan with Jimmy. We're adults.

Peace out.

Who Said?

Well, here we are. Sorry I haven't been posting regularly.  I always sit down to my laptop and feel guilty if I type anything other than scenes for the movie. So let me be the first to say: my bad. And let me be the first to say: you guys are all posting some awesome pictures. Keep it up (especially you Sis. I know Zabe doesn't like her picture getting taken, but keep pressing on!).

Well, as you may have guessed, this summer movie project is starting to suck up my life. The script which I thought was done suddenly got a lot harder to write, so I am continuing to work on it. I need to work out the financial stuff, too, but I won't bore you with that.

School is going just fine, no complaints. Not a whole lot to say, really. You see just HOW little I have to do other than that movie. It's getting annoying.

That's about it. Sorry that I don't have much to say;  I will try to post something more funny later this week, I promise.

Peace out.

I Got Nerve

This morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know!!

As the immortal Hilary Duff once said, "Life goes by, Who knows why?" So deep...

Life does go by here at Lindenwood Universi-tay. I am hangin out awaiting the awakening of my roommate and the start of a new Scrubs episode. Last week's episode was the best of the new ones so far, despite not having Zach Braff.

Today, I slept in. I probably should have put in some Work and Learn hours, but I'm not too worried about it. Tomorrow I get to sleep in again since my Thursday morning class got canceled. Which means after Film class, I jet back to KC for a 3 day weekend. Assuming, that is, my car makes it all the way. Vinny is not well...

I've been thinking a lot about how much my life has changed in the past 8 months. Got started in KC improv, finally picked a major (2 actually), and of course Radio Disney. And all of that is due to one guy, really: Clay Morgan. Dude changed my life. He won't read this, but I figure he should get a shout out anyway.

Well, I suppose that is about all I have to write about. Classes are going fine. I got an A on my last Chaucer test (verily). Have an A in Philosophy (if any of us are even here....). Have an A in Computer class (which essentially means I have an IQ above room temperature...). Have an A in Film class (yay! my eyes work!). Have an A in Video Production (I can turn on a video camera). And I have an A in Gender Roles (despite my crucial role in oppressing women).

Peace out.

If We Were A Movie

New Post? Blogger say what, say what!???

So yeah. A new post. Thought it had been a while since I posted, so I figured I would B to the L to the O to the G. (Oh no he didn't! Yes, yes he did.)

So I am chilling here in LU, fresh off an amazing(ly cold) Spring Break. Started with snow, ended with hail. And somewhere in between, I felt the sun for a few hours. And I said, "Sunshine go away today. I don't feel much like playin." And when I said that, he went away... And he took his 2 scoops of raisins with him...

Over the Break, I accomplished several important things:

1. Watched I Am Sam--Several times. Check.
2. Went to IHOP--Several times.
3. Worked for Radio Disney--Several times.
4. Ate at Panda Express---for the first time.
5. Almost bought Scrubs Season 6--for the  Millionth Time.
6. Struggled with my car---Several times.

I think that's about it. Went to the doc to make sure I was healthy (I've been losin' weight for no reason---as if I should complain about that). I think I'm alright. No diabetes. If I had diabetes, I would have perfected my impersonation of the old man for Liberty Meds who has, as he says, "Diabet as....."

Workin' on my movie script. It is quite close to being finished. Of course, I've said that for a while... But this time I'm serious (I think). So yeah. That's exciting. Also doing some homework and writing some music. Having fun, chilling out, living life.

Heading BACK to KC on Thursday for Easter Break. Awesome. It seems like forever since I went home for a while.... I am workin for Radio Disney at the KC home opener, and I should get a really good ticket through that hopefully. Who knows? (Not I...)

Well, that is the extent of the happy-hap here in LU.

Tune in tomorrow, same BatBlog, same BatTime.....

A Boring Post for the Sake of Posting

Wow. 2 weeks removed from my last post. Yet oddly, I'm not ashamed...

Well, not much has been happening with me. Lindenwood is fine, not bad, not great. School's alright, nothing much to say there.

Spring break could not be more boring at this point. Hopefully it picks up a little bit in a day or so. But I'm not expecting that. I am enjoying my week off of classes.

In rereading this really short post, it occurs to me that I may seem depressed. I'm really not. Just not much happening lately... I'm not sad, just bored really.

Well that's about it. My improv troupe DOES have another event lined up, but I'm taking a few days to wait to post info about it on here for professional reasons. Later, later!

The Second Thought Machine

My roommate is currently singing improvisational Christmas songs in the style of African slaves...

Anyway, here we are, with the thoughts of the digital age coursing through my mind. Partly because I have a million different things to consider. But mainly it's because Jimmy is writing a paper on the digital age... (Ba-dum-pssh)

Second thoughts are not my friend. One day, I know what I'm doing, the next day, not so much. I think someone should invent a machine where you don't think when you lay down to sleep, thereby eliminating the time spent thinking about everything you did that day. And yes, I did just use the word thereby correctly in a sentence. 5 points.

My Philosophy teacher wasn't in class today because she had a migraine; or did she have a "migraine"? (notice the quotes). We all know she may not be sober. Ah well. It meant I didn't have class today, which was pretty sweet.

Got my Chaucer paper back today: C+, which is about what I was expecting, considering it's a 300-level class. It actually is not as boring as it once was, which is truly a blessing.

And Fundamentals of the Internet was unusually stimulating today. So I am happy.

Now, I'm getting ready to go take a test in Sociology of Gender Roles. Should be interesting to say the least. Well, I'm off. Peace out.

Carey Grant, Show Me Your Ways

"The man who wanders with purpose has no purpose to wander."

Yes, that was a line in a beer commercial. Does that make it any less wise?

Well, here I am at Lindenwood University. Pretty great day today, weather-wise. No homework either, which is always really nice. My 2 classes were Video Production and History of Film. How do I manage this work load...

For this week in Film class, we got to watch one of the better movies I have seen in a long time. It's a 1940's movie called "His Girl, Friday." It's a Carey Grant film, and it was funny and absurd in a really good way.

In class, we watched a French movie called "Amelie," which was a bit vulgar, but also very hilarious.

Apparently, MY FREE HYDRIVE STUFF ARRIVED IN KC YESTERDAY!!! Zach, you should pick it up and bring it up here when you come up tomorrow/Saturday. Yeah... Hydrive.

I am working on forming a band with my greatest friend in the world, Mr. David Doty. We are writing a few songs, and actually hope to find a way to record a few in the coming months. When we do, trust me I will post that on here.

Well that's all that's happening here. Oh by the by, the new section of Max and Joe was posted. I know there was quite a delay, but it is a little bit longer than the other ones, so let me know what you guys think of it. I'm out.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho!!

Oh, life as a college kid who has a million thoughts in his head...

Well, life continues I suppose. I still really feel like I would be happier going to college in KC. Today I found out I could have gone to college in KC for the same price at LU, but I didn't know about it until it was too late.

But I can still go to Park University (which is the Park Pirates, hence the title) for less than 3,000 next year. If I can manage to get all A's this semester, it suddenly goes down to under 2,000. Which is pretty sweet. Worst case scenario I have to take out a small student loan. I really feel like this might be the right decision for me.

That being said, I would like to outline the reasons for wanting to return to KC, in no particular order:

1. I do have a lot of friends in KC, including a few of the best friends I will ever have in this world. Every time I come back to KC, it kills me that I have to leave on Sundays.

2. Family. Yes, that is maybe the biggest one for me. Think about it: after doing the math, I have a total of 19 family members who live in KC, all of whom are totally awesome and fun. I hated missing a few of the birthday parties the family threw, and I especially hate the fact that I will miss Mom's.

3. Church. Another huge reason I want to stay. Chad and Sam are huge influences on my life, and I absolutely love playing music every week with those guys. Plus it gives me and Ethan a chance to hang, which is totally awesome.

Those are the big 3. Let me know what you guys think. I am looking for opinions on this from anyone and everyone.

Lions and Tigers and.....Kangaroos. Oh Why!

Well, well well said the man who fell in a well....

Been a while since I blogged. Not much going on. Just considering my entire life and future and purpose. You know, the usual...

My big problem right now is that Lindenwood is so cost-efficient, but I know I would be happier going to UMKC. But then I would have to get a student loan... Which I guess most students do. Then again, I have the opportunity for free college... Ah, who knows.

*Disclaimer: Yes, I am still aware that I lead a blessed life and that most people would kill to choose between the 2 schools.

I went back to KC this weekend and had a really good time. I love KC, and seeing all my friends was pretty awesome. I saw Truman's show, and it wasn't too bad. It didn't blow me away like the Wizard of Oz, but not bad.

Well, that's about all thats happening here. If anyone has some suggestions on my dilemna, please feel free to comment. Peace out.

Not Much Happening, But You'll Still Love It!

Good morning, starshine! The Earth says... HELLO!

So a good week so far here at LU after just one day. But Monday's are the worst days for me, and it went pretty well overall.

Got my Scrubs poster in today. Not for me, I bought it for a friend as a very late and overdue Christmas present. I bought myself a hat which should be in  by the end of the week, as should my contacts and my free Hydrive stuff. The USPS is working hard on me this week...

Classes are going just fine, no complaints. I'm coming home this weekend, which is pretty awesome! I get to work a Radio Disney event on Friday night, and hopefully hang out with some friends Saturday night. And of course, playin' music on Sunday at church. Should be a fun weekend.

Having a Subway within 1 mile of this school is ridiculous. It's not too bad on my waist, but it's hurting my wallet for sure. Ah well, this weekend will get me some decent cash hopefully.

I'm out. Thanks for reading.

Update

Hey everybody.

Don't have much time to post, but I figured I would let you guys know that Max and Joe (the story I'm working on) has recently hit a bit of a block. But I should have a new post on there by the end of the week. Peace out.

Splurgin

I love relapsing.

Not really. But after about a week of eating nothing but salads, cottage cheese, fruits, and drinking water, I finally splurged just a little tonight. Had some Subway--but with Lite Mayo on wheat bread with Diet Coke. Although admittedly, I just used some change to go get some Hostess Cupcakes. Ah well. Splurging felt pretty good tonight.

But yeah. My eating healthy is going pretty well. I don't really look different, but I feel a lot better (except tonight, I already feel a bit sick). Yeah, this new eating plan is going really good for me.

School's going alright. I get my Chaucer test back on Monday, which I felt pretty good about at the time. I got 100% on the last quiz. Philosophy is getting pretty decent, and my teacher seems more stable as of late. And Fundamentals of Internet is the Fundamentals of using a Keyboard recently.

P.S.--For you skeptics, yes the Hydrive story was true. And the day I get it, I will sport that shirt proudly to proclaim my love for that drink.

Peace out.

Free Stuff from Hydrive!!

Hey, hey, hey!

So remember about a month ago or so when I was constantly talking about how much I liked Hydrive engergy drinks (which I still do)? Well, this morning I got an e-mail from (I kid you not) the main head of marketing for Hydrive Energy Drinks. She saw this blog and is sending me free samples and a Hydrive t-shirt since I talked up the product! Pretty awesome, huh?

That being said, I would just like to say that Hydrive is a really good product that we should all partake of as much as possible. It's an energy drink that isn't bad for you--perfect, right? Yes, this was my shameless plug to a company giving me free stuff, but that's okay. You know I would have talked about Hydrive even if they weren't cool enough to send me some stuff.

Which is leading me to try this. I absolutely love Chevrolet cars, especially any 2009 Corvettes. I could talk about them all day. Now I just need THEIR marketing person to stumble across my blog... fingers crossed!

So yeah. I thought that was pretty exciting and I just thought I would fill you in. Mom, you should get a package next week from Hydrive with all my cool stuff. Lata, dudes!

Welcome Back (You're Dreams Were Your Ticket Out)

Hey! Long time no blog!!

Sorry guys. I've been a bit swamped with homework... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. It has been a pretty busy couple of days here at LU, what with tests, homework, and Work and Learn (where I suddenly have to work.... darn boss changing his ways). Anyway, this was just my apology for not blogging in a while. That said, here we go!

So yeah. School's going just fine. I live in the dorm on campus with the Fraternity on the 1st floor, and they were doing some Rush Events so I went down just to see some people I knew. Met a few really cool guys (and got free coffee and snackcakes). I don't plan on joining or anything, but the guys down there were pretty cool. It was good to go chill.

I have been hanging out with Jimmy more lately, too. Which is a good thing because he's actually one of the funnier people I know when we hang out. He has rehearsal tonight, tomorrow night, and is going home this weekend, which means I have the dorm to myself!!

I probably won't do much of anything. Just chill and work on a paper I have due next Friday in that great time-suck that is Chaucer class. My teacher is a decent guy, and I can't lie, the story is picking up a little bit. It's not as bad as it was when I first started, truthfully (or as Chaucer would say, forsooth and verily!).

Philosophy is...philosophy. My teacher is quite the character, and she just became Dr. Douchant as of last Wednesday (apparently she got her Ph. D. in smoking the reafer--kidding).

Well, that's about all I have to say. I am not coming home for the weekend (try not to cry everyone). But I will be back on the 27th to work some Disney events and see all my family and friends again. Until then, I'm out. Peace.

A Short Blog From A Short Man

"I bet you can't guess what I'm thinking. I'll give you a hint--it's not cat."
"Dog?"
"Nope! Haha. You're dumb."

A few minutes later.

"I bet you still can't guess what I'm thinking. I'll give you the hint again--it's not cat."
Pause.
"Is it cat?"
"AH! Get out of my head!!"

And with that, another blog begins.

So not much happening up here at The Wood; everyone's just kind of floating through the days around here, waiting for Spring Break. I am just waiting 'til Friday, which is drawing closer everyday.

The healthy eating is going pretty well today, technically Day 4 on the program. In an unrelated health story, I woke up in the middle of the night with searing pain in my right calf, and it still hurts when I walk. I will probably be much more concerned if it persists until this weekend, at which point I could get looked at if it still hurts.

Anyway, I will be going now. Just figured I'd post today. Peace.

The Eating Habits of the Slightly Uninterested

Well, my friends. It has been several days since my last blog. I know you've been waiting with bated breath, so here it is. Ladies and gentleman, the first blog of the second week of February by the 5th oldest boy in the #1 greatest family, Sir Malcolm Jason.

Ha, what an intro. Unfortunately, this blog may not live up to those lofty standards. But I should discuss what has happened in my life this weekend/Monday. First of all, the weather was truly beatiful, especially today--even in the rain, it was gorgeous.

I am working on correcting my bad habits concerning sleep and food. The results? Well, I successfully went to bed an hour earlier last night, woke up at 8 this morning, and felt great. I ate breakfast for the first time in months today. I read online that if you eat 2 whole fruits or vegetables before your meal, it helps burn calories since it takes more calories to digest those items. So today in 3 meals I have had a total of 4 apples and 3 bananas. Oh, and it's healthy to eat salad after a meal, so I had 2 salads today (and I threw a fit when they told me I couldn't have salad at breakfast). Oh, and try 6 glasses of water compared to 2 glasses of diet caffeine-free Pepsi. Check. I was going to write here that I wasn't bragging, but let's be honest: I am. I'm proud of myself for keepin a balanced diet. So yeah, I'm bragging. What of it?

On to the classwork. Oh, philosophy. What can I say? The teacher seemed relatively stable today, and I applaud her for that. Chaucer is becoming the BANE of my existence. And it's not necessarily that challenging; it's boring. I mean why? Honestly? Give me the text in Modern English so I can read it without poking myself with a fork to stay awake.

In Fundamentals of Internet, we learned about blogging: I was an expert. I wonder why....

And then, in Sociology of Gender Roles, we learned about intersex people. It was pretty interesting, but at the same time, as usual, I felt under attack for my gender. Ah well, I don't think she'll grade me differently for it, and if she does, she'll get fired. Then who'll be laughing? HA!

Still waitin' for my federal return to get here.... Oh and when it does, rather than getting to save it or even buy myself something cool, I have to go get a tune-up for my car so it gets better gas mileage. Darn. Vinny(that's my car's name) has been a little sick lately, and his performance has been lacking. I still love the guy to death, but he needs his yearly physical. We've been through a lot, me and Vinny, and as strange as it sounds, I am gonna miss that car when he's gone.

I AM COMING HOME THIS WEEKEND! (He said in exclamation) I am pretty excited. I will have used every article of clothing I have in my dresser as of Friday (perfect timing). So let the laundry fun begin Friday night!!! Well, I should go work on some Video Production work. You stay classy, San Diego.
